Do I need a phone number to use XChat?

No. XChat uses your X (formerly Twitter) account to sign in. No phone number is required.

Do I need an X account to use XChat?

Yes. You must have an active X account. If you don't have one, you can sign up at x.com.

Is XChat end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. All one-on-one chats, group chats, and calls are end-to-end encrypted by default. X Corp cannot read your messages.

How does XChat compare to WhatsApp?

What languages does XChat support?

XChat supports 46 languages at launch, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Chinese.

Can I use XChat anonymously?

You can use a pseudonymous X account, which means XChat won't require your real phone number. However, X Corp still has data on how you signed up to X originally.

Can I still use it if XChat can't be downloaded on Google Play?

Not officially. Any app on Google Play claiming to be XChat right now is fake. Do not install them. Wait for X Corp to officially release an Android version.

Does XChat back up my chats?

XChat has not disclosed backup details at launch. Signal and WhatsApp offer backup options; XChat's approach will be tested once the app is live.

What is Grok in XChat?

Grok is X's AI assistant. XChat has Grok built in, so you can ask questions and get AI-generated responses inside the app. It's similar to having ChatGPT in your messenger.
