Getting Started with XChat

A quick guide to setting up XChat on your iPhone and sending your first encrypted message.

XChat is Elon Musk’s new encrypted messaging app, launching April 23, 2026. This guide walks you through installing XChat, setting up your account, and sending your first message.

Step 1: Download XChat

Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for “XChat”. Tap Get to install.

Step 2: Create an Account

When you first open XChat, you’ll be prompted to sign in with your X (formerly Twitter) account. This is currently the only way to create an XChat account.

Step 3: Send Your First Message

Tap the compose icon in the top right. Search for a contact by username or phone number. Type your message and tap send — it’s automatically end-to-end encrypted.
